I am an inspiration board fanatic. Pinterest is my real life inspiration board! I discovered Pinterest in 2011 back when you were put on a wait list and had to be accepted on to the platform (man that makes me feel old) and I’ve been an active user ever since! It’s been a place where I find inspiration, discover new ideas and I’m exposed to a world of design in a way I never would have been able to without the platform. I’ve been obsessed with it ever since I joined. I use Pinterest pins in my daily life for motivation, design inspiration, recipes, clothing styling… the list goes on!
I wanted to create a series of posts where I can share things that are currently inspiring me.
I visited Cuba in November. As cliche as it sounds, it was like stepping back in time with the old cars and Art Deco style buildings. I really loved the contrast of beautiful Spanish colonial and Art Deco architecture with in the tropical island setting. I spent a lot of time taking photos of the old world style and design details for future creative inspiration. I’m embarrassed to say I shared hardly any of those photos yet! Perhaps I’ll do a round up of my Cuba trip in a post on here. Cuba was gorgeous and if you have the chance, I highly recommend that you go!
I’ve spent years thinking about creating a blog. Although I’m not entirely at the place I’d like to be, I am extremely proud of how far I’ve come! Progress takes time, so it’s good to recognize small wins or remember little actions that add up over time. I try to remind myself this when I look at the big picture. You have to start somewhere, so even if you’re not happy with the place you’re at (with whatever it may be, working out, a skill, etc.) remember, you are a step in the right direction just by your actions! Slow and steady wins the race.
If you live on Instagram like I do, you will know that straw totes, knit bags and canvas carryalls are extremely popular right now! This is one trend I have no problem jumping on the bandwagon with. Peep some ethically made stylish options in my post here.
I’ve always LOVED the smell of coconuts! In the past I’ve incorporated it only in to the perfumes that I wear. Lately I’ve been experimenting like crazy with it. I’ve made my own coconut milk which was amazing! I have also used it in beauty products and in recipes. You’ll find it in a new recipe I’ll be whipping up on here in the coming weeks. 😉 Any guesses as to what it maybe is?
My love for all things connected to ocean runs deep. Virtually every family trip was to an ocean destination from California, Hawaii, Australia to Florida.
Everything from: the casual vibe of those destinations, the pairing down of my wardrobe (a simple sundress, sandals, hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, lip balm), fresh simple food, of course the beach and… a chance to recharge! Just a memory of a trip to the sea can instantly transport me back into a state of relaxation.
“The sea, once it casts its spell, holds one in its net of wonder forever.”
– Jacques Cousteau
Have you ever had anyone ask you what “era” you would like to have been born into? I must say I love the style of many eras like the 20’s, 30’s and 40’s. Although I do admit I am very happy to have been born in these modern times. It certainly has its perks. This digital age allows me to manage so much of my life on something as simple as my phone with a click of a button and collect all that inspires me on Pinterest. And now in the palm of my hand I can hunt for, gather and collect inspiration from across the globe. Inspiration is everywhere and ready to be pinned and experienced.
Find me on Pinterest here! I’d love to know what inspires you on Pinterest? Do you have a favorite board or Pinner that you follow? Are you always pinning the same types of pins? I’m guilty of that… 🙂 ! Let me know in a comment below!
